Experience Dusk to Twilight at White Lake. We come together lakeside around the campfire. We share ways of looking into Country, of seeing its riches. Your two hosts discuss cultural heritage & property etiquette.Cultural Significance & Pastoral Awareness with your hosts.

Saturday (or day 2)

Purilla & Bangku Cultural Experiences + Nguwa Bandara Night Sky Stories

Sandstone Cultural Experience
Guided tagalong to Crucifix Purilla (Swamp) where native rice grows, a place for water birds, pretty frogs, dingoes, brolgas & scar trees. We then drive up to Stratford’s Bangku – Sandstone Escarpment – one of Queensland’s top Cultural sites. We wander, experience and explore lookouts & rocky cliffs, caves & ancient stencilling, plants for eating & medicine, native wells & ochre walls. Dyirawarra – Thanking the Spirits Smoking Ceremony before leaving.Cultural Interpretative Tour guided by your hosts.

Night Sky Stories
As the sun sets and darkness falls, your hosts return to White Lake to now look skyward for Nguwa Bandara sharing stories of our night sky. A sampling platter sharing the tastes of Stratford’s produce – Yurdi (meats) with damper & native-plant dukkha.Story telling with Barry.
Light supper.

Sunday (or day 3)

Pioneer & Pastoral Experience + White Lake Sunset

Pioneer and Pastoral Experience  
Gather at White Lake for Sunday’s guided tagalong, to wander through our ancient & pioneering past to modern pastoralism. Look back at the earthen ‘McCullochs Tank’, its Chinese stonework & wonder about the old Cobb & Co staging stop & hotel that’s gone but for broken glass and a lonely grave, though there’s native wells. Then we drive past the old survey scar tree & modern solar bore to peer into the old Deep Well & up at the old Windmill. We will stop and meet the cattle of this wooded desert country and see into a woman’s contemporary approach to ethical beef.Pastoral Interpretative Tour guided by your hosts.

White Lake Sunset
Together we share the last sunset at White Lake and the joys & wander of Stratford Country as we bid farewell, until next time.Nibbles.
